With the aim of strengthening social relations, as well as the spirituality of young students, teachers and UPeU administrators, the opening of the GOL (Guidance Group for Leaders) activities was held at the Universidad Peruana Unión Campus Tarapoto, with 277 participants.
Dr. Ruben Mamani, academic director of the Campus Tarapoto, shared his thoughts and mentioned that «we miss the face-to-face meetings and being able to hear the experiences of our students who are the raison d’être of our institution».
It is worth mentioning that before the Covid-19 pandemic, the UPeU halls were open to receive around 1000 young people from the different degree programs to share moments of reflection and healthy fun, each professional school organized the activities with their teachers and students, in addition, this is how many young people came to know the message of hope that is within the philosophy of the UPeU whose promoter is the Seventh-day Adventist Church.
For Antonia del Aguila, a student in the 5th semester of Marketing and International Business, the resumption of GOL activities «has been very motivating to see all my class gathered in a Zoom room and to share experiences and to meet every Friday at 7:30 p.m. to learn more about Jesus and strengthen our fellowship among students».
Dr. Antonio Castellanos, Physical Education teacher and coordinator of a GOL, expressed that «it is always good to share outside of class hours with the students and even more so when the intention is to show them the great love that Jesus has for them».
It is important to mention that GOL is part of the UPeU Weekend activities that take place at the UPeU Tarapoto Campus, where young students share spiritual moments, leadership training, workshops on interpersonal relationships and missionary activities in needy communities.
