Psychology students of the UPeU campus Tarapoto, carried out a healthy project in a shelter for the elderly called “Kaytawasi”
Under the name of «Quri Sunqu (golden heart)», the Psychology students of the UPeU Campus Tarapoto, started a project directed to the elderly of the Kaytawasi Shelter in the city of Tarapoto. The project is to contribute to the life quality of this group of people, through weekly sessions of physical activity and therapies that strengthen motor function.
Dayanna Karollay Peixoto Pinedo, the student who directs this project with her classmates, mentions that “older adults were happy and enthusiastic when they received our visit and while participating in physical activities. Through this project, we can transmit a little empathy with the elderly»
At the end of each activity, there is a nutritious and healthy meal that’s shared, and a portion of the missionary book The Power of Hope is read. With this, the message of faith and hope is also transmitted or, as the students themselves would say, “With my profession, I help my neighbor and carry the message of God”.
