On Wednesday, May 5th, the Human Talent Management Area and the Psychological Counseling Program of the Universidad Peruana Unión (UPeU) held the online workshop entitled «Stress and Anxiety Management» with the aim of contributing to the improvement of mental health in the staff of this university in its three campuses in Lima, Juliaca and Tarapoto.
Aida Chelita Santillan, UPeU psychologist, was in charge of the topic and explained some of the symptoms of stress such as: sleep problems, fatigue, stomach discomfort, irritability, muscle tension, among others. In addition, she hosted dynamics through images and other materials in which attendees participated actively. An activity was carried out to measure stress, with the question: How stressed have you felt in the last month?
Likewise, Prof. Santillan mentioned that we all need a dose of stress because it generates the hormone called Cortisol and this is necessary in certain doses, but when it is added and active pauses are not made, this hormone begins to activate and the body no longer has control, that is when the person begins to feel sleepy, among other symptoms.
In this way, the Universidad Peruana Union is concerned about the welfare of its employees by providing topics with specialists to support mental and spiritual health.
