On Friday, April 30th, as part of the institutional anniversary, the raising of flags took place on the campus of the Universidad Peruana Unión (UPeU). The event was transmitted through the Zoom application in which the university community participated in its three campuses in Lima, Juliaca and Tarapoto.
The protocol ceremony was attended by the administrative authorities of UPeU including: Dr. Gluder Quispe, Rector; Dr. Raúl Acuña, Academic Vice Rector; Álvaro Masías, Administrative Vice Rector; Pr. Jaime Pérez, Vice Rector of University Welfare; and Dr. Carlos Corrales, director of Colegio Unión, the application center of this house of studies.
Abimael Obando, ministerial secretary of the Seventh-day Adventist Church for the northern part of the country, was also present.
As part of this commemorative act, the national flag, the UPeU flag and the Adventist Education flag were hoisted by the aforementioned authorities.
Afterwards, a prayer was said in gratitude to God for having directed this house of studies and a prayer was said for the families of the students and collaborators who are going through difficult times. It was a special moment of prayer.
The Psychological Counseling Program of the University Welfare area implemented two prayer gardens with the objective of having spaces to strengthen faith and communion with God.
«Through prayer we can find peace in the face of emotional pain. In this place people can place their requests and know that there is a God who is always at their side,» said Yenny Quea, coordinator of the program.
The prayer gardens were inaugurated with the cutting of the ribbon by Dr. Gluder Quispe and Pr. Abimael Obando, on the main avenue of the university campus and by Dr. Raúl Acuña and Álvaro Masías, at the UPeU Mansion.
A prayer of thanksgiving and consecration was made by Pr. Obando who mentioned that this place will be «A place where victory will be presented every day, and where needs will be presented to the Lord».
The prayer gardens are implemented with messages from the Bible and surrounded by colorful flowers, in the midst of nature. When everything is back to normal, it is expected that every student, worker or visitor can also find here a special place to be with God through prayer.
