On June 22, the UPeU Campus Juliaca and the Colegio Adventista del Titicaca in coordination with the Seventh-day Adventist Church of the Misión del Lago Titicaca laid the first stone for the construction of new Adventist temples in the community of Ilo Ilo and the town of Esquén. This in compliance with the objectives set by the Mission, Social Projection and University Extension Area.
The event was attended by the administrative staff of the Seventh-day Adventist Church (IASD) for the northern part of the country, the Universidad Peruana Unión, the Misión del Lago Titicaca, the Clínica Americana de Juliaca, the Colegio Adventista del Titicaca and all the parishioners of both churches, who laid the first stone and the foundation of the upcoming constructions.
During the event, Pastor Bill Quispe, IASD leader for the north of the country, congratulated the articulated and multidisciplinary work that the UPeU is doing for the benefit of the community; «How important it is to work in a coordinated manner among all areas and institutions, and the UPeU Campus Juliaca is fulfilling that objective by reaching out to the community, first with solidarity actions using the method of Christ and involving students, teachers and administrators in each activity».
Likewise, Doctor Gluder Quispe, rector of the Universidad Peruana Unión, highlighted the work being done through the Area of Mission, Social Projection and University Extension: «UPeU not only focuses its work on a small audience of students, but extends to the community with various ministries and actions for the benefit of the population, and as a result of this work today has been placed the first stone in two places near the UPeU, in Esquén and Ilo Ilo, very soon will begin the construction of these Adventist temples».
